First, instructors
taught classes with PowerPoint presentations.
Then, trainers started distributing their
presentations on CD, followed by posting
their presentations on the web.
But despite these
efforts, student retention just wasn’t
what it should be. There had to be a better
way. And the answer was eLearning.
Technology has brought
a true revolution in training. Instructional
design, e-commerce and tracking software
have made it possible to offer everything
from live streaming audio/video courses,
to interactive testing and tracking. Students
now have the computing capacity to easily
run these programs on their computers at
work, or from the convenience of their homes.
They can truly fit training into their own
schedules, and, as a result, are more likely
to complete the required programs.
But eLearning is
no video textbook. Instead, it offers the
student a rich, interactive experience,
with real-life test scenarios, exciting
and understandable material, and the ability
to track each student’s progress.
ELearning programs are flexible enough to
adjust to the student’s own pacing,
allowing them to go back and review material
they didn’t understand, and take tests
more than once to improve their scores.
Most important of
all, it gives the client who is running
the courses the ability to offer convenient
online registration tracking, keep tallies
of individual student scores, analyze how
many students have completed which portions
of their class work, all while saving thousands
on those live-class plane tickets and lost
productivity. |
